Maria Levato is a 28-year-old, indie romantasy author. She has published two works. The first was The Islands of Rune (2023) and the second was Journey to Rallem (2025).

Journey to Rallem does. However, The Islands of Rune doesn’t.

What other authors inspire your work?

There’s no doubt that Rumika Takashi, the manga artist behind Inuyasha inspired my writing, but I have more recent inspirations as well. Authors like Amber V. Nicole and Harley Laroux inspire me every day. While the two authors have vast differences between their equally brilliant writing, both have inspired my work in their own way. Their fierce love for their readers and authentic passion for diversity also means they inspire me as a person, not just on the page.
